Whether you enjoy a stroll in the park, a swim in the pool, playing soccer with friends, or a round of golf, West Shore Parks & Recreation has programs and facilities for everyone.

West Shore Park & Recreation is governed by the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society's Board of Directors made up of representatives from the City of Colwood, the District of Langford, the District of Metchosin, the District of Highlands, the Juan de Fuca Electoral area and the Town of View Royal. Each municipality contribute, through tax requisition, toward the operation of the parks and recreation facilities.

Our on-site services include a wide variety of fitness; arts/crafts; recreation; health & wellness programs for people of all ages and abilities. The Juan de Fuca Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library is also located on site.

Information about the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society...

  • The West Shore Parks & Recreation Society was incorporated under the Society’s Act on November 21, 2001 and operates via the Operating, Maintenance and Management Agreement between its members, being the City of Colwood, the City of Langford, the District of Metchosin, the District of Highlands, the Town of View Royal, and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area.
  • The Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre and the Centennial Park Recreation Centre are jointly owned and operated by the members. The Society provides recreation services to residents of those member municipalities whose tax dollars contribute to the operation of our Centre. Our governing body is the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society, Board of Directors, which is comprised of 15 members who each represent the Society members (ie: there are four representatives from Colwood; five from Langford; two from Metchosin; one from Highlands; two from the Town of View Royal; and one from Juan de Fuca Electoral Area).
  • The Board of Directors meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month, and is responsible for setting policy and guidelines for the operation of the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre and the Centennial Park Recreation Centre through the Administrator and staff.
